A new study found that doctors are being paid by industry to endorse pharmaceuticals on social media as “influencers.” The researchers found that these marketing activities are not always labeled as paid advertisements, which may be misleading for consumers who trust doctors to provide unbiased medical information.
“The conflict of interest between the manufacturer and endorsing physician may not be apparent to the general social media audience as these connections were not consistently disclosed in posts,” the researchers write.
Moreover, the researchers write that the doctors engaging in this marketing activity don’t appear to have scientific expertise with the specific drugs they promote. The researchers argue that this could constitute a violation of federal law around industry marketing:
“Physicians’ involvement in research was limited, raising doubts regarding whether physician selection was driven by scientific expertise in accordance with industry standards. Federal regulators view deviation from industry standards on physician engagement as potential evidence of a violation of the federal statute,” they write.
The study was led by Sonia Persaud at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York and was published in the top-tier medical journal JAMA.

Marketing drugs on social media is the cherry on the turd. The turd is the fact that they ruin the brains of our children and extract hundreds of billions of dollars from every country on Earth, many poor countries, in order to fund what is nothing but an enormously profitable and catastrophically destructive grift that does nothing but ruin lives, ruin humanity and causing the most dangerous imaginal delusion socially and globally: that the psychological dysfunction of humanity is caused by the spontaneous malfunctioning of the brain, unless it is in the form of criminality or addiction, in which case it is because they are morally reprehensible human beings, i.e. children of this miserably cruel society. It is a dangerous delusion because actually the brain is an astonishingly marvelous instrument with the impossible task of rapidly adjusting to a runnaway process of civilization that is out of it’s control and has destroyed everything worth living for – love, family, community, and the beautiful, unspoiled Mother Earth. Those brains that aren’t a little mad are the most mad and destructive brains of all. The psychiatrists call it psychopathy but there is probably few human ventures more psychopathic then psychiatry. But anyway, perhaps one day we’ll discover that humanity is just God and the Devil playing chess and we’ll all be able to laugh off the destruction of this incredible, infinitely complex structure of the human brain, along with the destruction of the absolutely enormous structure it created which is the whole of humanity and it’s civilization, and the destruction of the even greater and more marvellous structure of Mother Earth, the maker of all brains and of humanity, until we escaped her and then destroyed her out of our blind and callous greed. Perhaps she’s God playing chess with us, eh. That would make judgement day allot of fun, if it hasn’t happened already (12/12/12).

They forgot to mention that fluoride is hazardous waste produced as a bye product from manufacturing fertilizer from oil. Oops! Probably didn’t get paid to say that…
