I enjoy reading this rebuttal by Bruce Levine a lot! Thank you!
āBruce E Levine writes a rebuttal to the New York Times review of Laura Delanoās book Unshrunk in Counter Punch.ā
New York Times published two pieces about Lauraās book Unschrunk, one by Ellen Barry on March 17, 2025 being a feature story, and the other by Casey Schwartz on March 20, 2025, being a book review. Bruceās rebuttal here is to the Ellen Barryās feature story article, not to Casey Schwartzās book review.
Here you said, āI would be dead without antidepressants. Yes, I had a nervous breakdown after a psychiatrist told me that I didnāt need to wean off my Prozac ( note: ALWAYS wean off your antidepressant). ā
In another post from you here, you also said, āHave you ever experienced severe mental illness? Because I have and it doesnāt generally go away. Iāll have to be on antidepressants the rest of my life and Iām okay with that. Iād rather that than be completely dysfunctional, sobbing all day and night. ā
If you always want to wean off your antidepressants, then how will you be on them for the rest of your life, and vice versa?
I agree that Delano’s book is beautiful and powerful. Thank you!

I just tried to order a digital version of her book. It was not successful. I have to wait for longer for this book to be available in the U.S..
